Governor Spends Time With Elementary Students

A group of approximately 60 Altara Sandy Elementary students got a little surprise during their field-trip tour through the Utah State Capitol building Monday afternoon. Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. stepped out of his office to talk with the fourth-grade students about the famous “Tornado Desk” and fun facts about Utah. This unexpected visit from the Governor allowed the students time to learn more about what happens on Capitol Hill and how some of his time is spent while in office.

During their 20 minute
visit, the students were shown the Governor’s High School Musical basketball signed by all members of the cast. This unexpected interaction with the students brought their tour of the Utah State Capitol to life. We thank Governor Huntsman for making a life memory for these students!
